Supporting Education at Young Teens In Talent

FEBRUARY 2026: Coffee World Change Initiative

For the kids at Young Teens In Talent in Mathare, education is more than a subject—it’s a lifeline. Yet every term, that lifeline is tested.

We first stepped in to help with school fees last January, sponsoring two children who simply couldn’t return to class without support. Then, during our visit to Kenya and Young Teens in Talent in September, we were able to send 15 more students back to school the very next day after hearing they’d been held back by overdue balances.

This cycle is a quiet, recurring reality for the YTIT community. Every new term brings the same heartache: kids who show up only to be turned away after weeks, or who aren’t allowed back at all until old fees are paid. For families already stretching every shilling, the weight of school bills can feel unbearable.

This February, we continued that commitment. Coffee World Change funded the outstanding fees for another 17 children, ensuring they could walk through the school gates without fear or hesitation.

Why do we keep doing this? Because talent needs a stable foundation. You can’t rehearse a dance or dream about the future if you’re worrying about being sent home from school. By covering these fees, we’re not just paying a bill—we’re protecting a child’s right to learn, easing the immense pressure on their families, and giving the whole YTIT community one less thing to shoulder alone.

Education shouldn’t be a privilege that gets taken away. It should be a promise. And with your support, we’re working to keep that promise alive—one term, one child, at a time.

This is what change brews like.
