School Bags, Shoes, and a Whole Lot of Joy: Mombasa, June 2026
We met Mirfat during our trip to Kenya last September. She is an inspiring young woman who founded and runs Artistic Hope Organisation in Mombasa—a not-for-profit that does quiet, consistent work supporting vulnerable children and families across the coast with everything from meals to building wells in remote areas. She's warm, sharp, and completely dedicated. We loved her authenticity and dedication, immediately.
Mirfat recently told us about the kids at two local orphanages who needed school bags and shoes; many of the children didn't have proper school bags. Some used reusable shopping bags to carry their books. Others had bags that were falling apart. The shoes were in a similar state; worn down, too small, or barely holding together.
It's the kind of thing you notice if you're looking. And Mirfat always notices.
So, this past June, Coffee World Change sponsored school bags, school shoes, and sandals for 38 children across two orphanages. The distributions happened over two days—small, simple, and direct – the kind of giving we love.
