Dancing to a Brighter Future: Coffee World Change Supports Young TIT Once Again

Coffee World Change Supports Young TIT Once Again

At Coffee World, our mission is to create meaningful change in the communities we serve. Through our Coffee World Change initiative, we dedicate 1% of our prior year’s profits to impactful projects across the coffee belt. This August, we are excited to share an inspiring story of resilience, creativity, and triumph from our friends at Young TIT in Mathare, Nairobi.

Young TIT, a talented dance crew founded by the ever-inspiring Moses, recently participated in a highly anticipated dance competition at the end of August. The team was brimming with confidence, and their dedication was unmatched. They knew they had what it took to win, but they needed a little extra support to cover the costs of food, transport, and participation fees. Seeing their passion and determination, Coffee World decided to loan them the funds, trusting in their ability to shine. And shine they did!

The crew not only took first place in the group category, but they also walked away with a substantial cash prize — enough to cover school fees for the entire team for at least a term! This is an incredible achievement, and we couldn’t be more proud of their hard work and talent.

Instead of having Young TIT pay back the loan, we decided to reinvest in their future by helping them spruce up their studio and make it a better space for creativity and growth. Our contribution included sprucing up & tiling their studio bathroom, building a new outdoor cooking area, replacing the makeshift setup of rocks and firewood with a safer, more practical solution. The young dancers now have a proper place to prepare meals, making their daily routine a little easier and much safer.

We also dedicated some funds to tidying up their garden area, creating space for a new chicken coop. The kids upcycled an old storage box into a coop, and we purchased their first chickens, which will provide fresh eggs — a small step towards self-sustainability. This is the second time Coffee World Change has supported small-scale poultry farming, the first being Mama Shakira’s chickens in Mwanza earlier this year.

The majority of the remaining funds were used to buy food and essential supplies for the families of the dancers, who often struggle to make ends meet. While this is a temporary relief, we hope that our continued support for Moses and the incredible work he does with Young TIT will create a ripple effect, providing long-term benefits to these families through education, nourishment, and empowerment.

At Coffee World, we are committed to fostering positive change, one project at a time. By supporting Young TIT, we are helping them become more self-sustaining while also indirectly supporting the families of these talented young dancers.

Thank you for being a part of our journey and for supporting Coffee World Change. Together, we are making a difference, one dance step at a time. 💃🏾🌍❤️
