This December, we had the privilege of marking a significant milestone with our friends at Young TIT in Nairobi, Kenya: their 9th anniversary! Over nearly a decade, Young TIT has tirelessly worked to empower and uplift children, creating a safe and nurturing environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive.
At Coffee World, we believe in the power of community and the incredible impact of collective kindness. That’s why, earlier this year in September, as part of our Coffee World Initiative, we packed and sent a shipment of love from Cambridge to Nairobi. This wasn’t just any shipment—it was a carefully curated collection of games, educational materials, clothes, shoes, and bags for the children at Young TIT.
After a three-month journey via sea freight, the boxes finally arrived this December, perfectly timed to celebrate this meaningful anniversary.
A Journey Across Continents
Sending the shipment by sea freight was no small feat, but we knew it would be worth the wait. The boxes were filled with items chosen to meet both practical and educational needs—designed to bring smiles, spark curiosity, and make everyday life a little brighter for the children.
The journey spanned thousands of miles, crossing oceans and continents, fueled by the hope that it would make a difference in the lives of the Young TIT kids.
The Joy of Arrival
When the shipment landed in Nairobi, the excitement was palpable. Moses, a dedicated member of Young TIT, picked up the boxes from the depot and transported them to their studio via boda boda, embodying the resourceful spirit of Nairobi’s bustling streets.
The opening of the boxes was a celebration in itself. Children gathered with wide eyes and eager hands, uncovering treasures that brought an outpouring of joy. From colorful clothes and sturdy shoes to engaging games and educational tools, each item seemed to tell the children, You are seen, valued, and supported.
A Milestone to Remember
The timing couldn’t have been better. As Young TIT celebrated nine years of making an impact in their community, these gifts became a symbol of the partnership between Cambridge and Nairobi—a partnership rooted in shared humanity and a commitment to empowering the next generation.
The games foster teamwork and creativity, the educational materials open new avenues of learning, and the clothes and shoes provide not just comfort but also confidence. The bags, perfect for school and daily use, were a favorite among the children.
Reflecting on the Impact
