FAQ

Are the courses suitable for me as I’ve never made coffee before?

Of course we tailor certain areas of our courses to the user based on their experience and confidence, we all started somewhere so don’t feel shy about joining in.

Can I do multiple courses in one day?

You certainly can as we understand it can be difficult finding multiple free days to do training, this would all be dependant on availability of the room and trainers so please email academy@coffeeworld.co.uk for availability.

Where do I go when I arrive on the day?

If you’re coming on a day our Espresso Bar is open then head on inside, make them aware you’re in for a course and feel free to get a drink while waiting. Should you be coming in for a bespoke course on a day the Espresso Bar is closed please head into the courtyard and our trainer shall come greet you.

What shall I bring with me on the day?

If you’re coming for one of our usual courses then we have everything you need already. The Academy has Dairy and Non Dairy milk available with freshly roasted coffee straight out the roastery downstairs. If you’re coming for a Bring Your Own Machine course then please bring everything in your usual set up as we want it to be as accurate as being at home as possible, you’re welcome to bring the coffee you reguarily use but we are happy to supply beans on the day (And hopefully win you over as well).

How do I book?

If you’re looking to join in on one of our regular weekly courses you can view course dates and start times on their pages and book on should they show availability. If you have been gifted a voucher or have a code for a bespoke course please contact academy@coffeeworld.co.uk to communicate with our trainers to get you booked in.

I attended the Latte Art course and it was a super fun morning. Jack (our course instructor) was very nice, very knowledgable and super encouraging. I think the course is suitable for all levels, he was able to adjust it to the different … More levels in the room. The only thing is that I wish it was longer 😀

My husband and I did the 2 hour Barista Basics course with Jack. We really enjoyed the course and while having fun we learnt a lot too! I loved the latte art element and my husband enjoyed learning about what makes coffee have a particular … More taste. We also love how Jack tailored the course to what we were interested in, for example how to make a matcha.

Jack gave us a roastery tour - wow - he really knows his stuff!. From coffee bean sourcing through drying, roasting, grinding and then packaging - I never appreciated how much went on behind the scenes! and then the tasting (cupping) - … More it is a science! Once again, thank you for sharing your knowledge, Martin.

    Would absolutely recommend!

This was just an absolutely fabulous workshop. Jack is super knowledgeable and friendly. He was able to give everyone a personalised experience, he is great at managing the pace and the different needs in the group. And a ninja at troubleshooting … More any issues, always on hand with tips and tricks. Everyone gets to have lots of practice and the materials/ equipment provided are top quality. Such a great way to spend a morning - really recommend this. It makes for a great gift to for any coffee lover.

I went in for a couple of hours of a tailored session with Jack and left feeling confident to meet the world of complex coffee flavours head on! He has a such a brilliant and relaxed teaching style, and leaves enough room for questions, … More while making sure our time is well spent learning relevant techniques. I very highly recommend the academy for individuals as well as groups.

Excellent course. Nice and relaxed. Jack was the tutor and it was more like a mate showing you, rather than a teacher. Top man, highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic tour around by our guide who delivered the tour and tasting session excellently which such passion and zeal. We loved it and the cafe, along with the food and of course the coffee, and other wonderful coffee related … More items on sale. Thanks so much for this memorable tour.

V friendly knowledgeable teacher... tailored content to audience. Great experience if you want to learn more about the science of brewing coffee.
  • Avatar Jon Burrell ★★★★★ 10 months ago
Did the beginners barista coffee course, led by Jack. Really great - learned all we needed to make good coffee at home. Friendly relaxed atmosphere, very informative, and a decent opportunity to practice on professional machines.
    And of
… More course, very good coffee!

A great overview of the roasting process - with the site actually roasting on Tuesdays which might be noisy! Also, what improvements to process are coming........
Then the tutored tasting by our tour guide Jack which showed how to do it
… More properly - scientific set up - was even more interesting because you smell and taste the coffees change over the brewing time!

I spent an hour with Jack and my new machine.I came away with loads more knowledge about dialling in new beans, extraction times, depending on the beans. Perfecting a good velvety milk for my lattes and loads more. He wanted to cram in … More as much knowledge as he could, so I went away with a whole lot of enthusiasm to learn and practice at home. Today’s latte was delicious. Light bean, so extraction time was dead on 30s (grind set at 23-a last minute tweak by Jack). Milk just how I like it.
Great experience. Would highly recommend the bring your own machine course with the very knowledgeable and enthusiastic Jack.

I've just done the full day Barista Training with Jack and loved every minute of it. Jack was a fab teacher and had answers for all of my questions, he has a wealth of knowledge! The training was engaging and very hands on from the … More start, would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn how to make barista style coffee. Thanks!

I attended my first barista training course at coffee world recently and I was super impressed with the whole experience!. I booked a private full day course with Jack and everything was great from start to finish. Jack was super knowledgeable, … More accommodating and friendly. He tailored the course focusing on what I wanted and needed to learn.
Thank you for a great course!
And of course can't forget to mention the coffee and toastie I enjoyed in the espresso bar! Soo good.
I will definitely be using coffee world's services in the future!

Great insights on how to make espresso professionally. Despite the young age, Jack is an Expert of the espresso machine, which is far to be straight forward (as I thought). He has a lot of patience with the newbies. Very satisfactory experience … More but you came out wanting to know more on how to make an excellent coffee and cappuccino!

I wish to thank Jack for a great morning training at the academy.
My brother and I attended the Basic Brewing course. We had a great time while there. Jack was a great instructor, he gave us plenty of instruction and lots of time to ask
    … More questions etc.
We have now signed up for the next and can’t wait.
We also used the coffee shop which is great and the staff there were knowledgeable and happy to talk coffee and more.
Thanks to all the staff who are very helpful, friendly and cheers to all and see you soon.
    Darren and Glen.

Bought a latte art course as a gift for my husband and his brother, who are massive coffee lovers. I was so impressed with customer service from the very beginning - Jake was so helpful in booking a date in advance (my brother in law came … More from Oz so had a short window of opportunity!). The class itself was really informative, well run and they came away with loads more knowledge and a great foundation for practicing at home.
The setting was lovely, they really enjoyed the coffee and can't wait to visit the cafe once open! Cannot recommend highly enough.

My boyfriend and I attended the barista basics training course this morning. Jake was very passionate and conscientious to new beginners. He was friendly, knowledgable and engaging, making the whole experience really worth while. Definitely … More recommend for anyone wanting to know a bit more about coffee 🙂
  • Avatar Adam Duffield ★★★★★ 2 years ago
Had an awesome session with Jake this morning on the "home brew masterclass" we covered the concepts of making espresso and got to make lots myself - It was a fantastic opportunity to take my theoretical knowledge and turn them … More into concrete physical skills!
Jake was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to- being very receptive to questions and tailoring the training around what I wanted to cover- really great experience all around and I'll be sure to come to the cafe when its open! - easy recommend to anyone looking to learn more about coffee and the art of making it 🙂

I just had a great 1:1 Bring your own machine session with Jake. I managed to dial in the correct shot using my own machine and the difference is night & day. Also spent some time looking at milk steaming, again great guidance and advice … More from Jake. Managed make my best latte art ever!
Would return for another course in a heartbeat.
