JUNE 2025 Coffee World Change Initiative
Fuelling Futures: How Coffee World Change Empowered Mama Beatrice’s Peanut Butter Business
At Coffee World, we know that great coffee fuels more than just your morning—it fuels change. This past June, we’re excited to share how Coffee World Change sponsored Young Teens In Talent ‘s Parent Empowerment Programme for the 3rd time running, helping Mama Beatrice, a hardworking mum and entrepreneur from Mathare, Nairobi, take her peanut butter business to the next level.
Meet Mama Beatrice: Poultry Farmer, Peanut Butter Pioneer
Mama Beatrice isn’t just any entrepreneur—she’s a mother of 4 daughters, an urban poultry farmer, and the heart behind a small but mighty peanut butter business. She’s also the proud mum of one of the children at Young Teens In Talent (YTIT), a community hub and talent development organisation in Mathare, Nairobi that supports over 80 children and young adults AND has been helping empower parents through 0% interest microfinance loans which, when paid back, are recycled to support another parent.
For years, Mama Beatrice has been grinding peanuts by borrowing a friends grinder—limiting how much she could produce and sell. Without her own grinder, growing her business felt like an uphill battle. But thanks to your coffee purchases, that’s all changed.
What Coffee World Change Funded
With the support of Coffee World Change June funding towards the Parent Empowerment Programme, we were able to provide Mama Beatrice with:
✔ A brand-new peanut grinder – Say goodbye to re-selling – now, she can produce more peanut butter, fast and more efficiently.
✔ An energy-efficient Jiko stove from Cookswell – The same ethical, eco-friendly company behind our 2024 eco-oven project (that was sent to Tawfiq Orphanage in Tanzania), helping her roast peanuts sustainably.
✔ A fresh stock of peanuts – Ensuring she had plenty of raw materials to keep production going.
✔ A complete brand refresh – We designed a new logo and branding for her business and sponsored stickers for her jars (now glass, not plastic!).
Why This Matters
For Mama Beatrice, this support means:
🔹 More income – With increased production, she can sell more and better support her family.
🔹 More sustainability – The Cookswell Jiko reduces fuel costs and environmental impact.
🔹 More pride – Professional branding and glass jars elevate her product in the local market. 🔹 Funds are reinvested – Once repaid, the money will help another YTIT parent start or grow their business.
🔹 The community grows stronger – Just like Baba Ochibo’s Boda Boda business (funded in October 2024) and Mama Evans’ chicken shop (funded in Febraury 2025), Mama Beatrice’s success creates a ripple effect.
This isn’t just about peanut butter—it’s about dignity, opportunity, and resulting community empowerment. When one woman thrives, her family and community do too.
A Taste of the Future
Mama Beatrice is already dreaming bigger—expanding her customer base, hiring local help, and expanding into local shops. And it all started with your coffee choices.
