Brewing Excellence: The Rise of Speciality Coffee in the UK and Coffee World’s Commitment
In recent years, the UK has undergone a quiet revolution—one that starts with a single cup. Speciality coffee, once a niche indulgence, has become a cultural staple, transforming high streets, homes, and habits across the country. And at Coffee World, we’re proud to be part of this movement, not just riding the wave, but helping shape it.
A Market on the Rise
The UK speciality coffee market is booming. In 2024, it generated over £5 billion in revenue, and it’s projected to nearly double to £9.2 billion by 2030, growing at a 10.7% compound annual rate (grandviewresearch). This surge is driven by a new generation of coffee lovers—especially those aged 25–39—who crave quality, sustainability, and authenticity in every sip.
Premiumisation is the name of the game. Consumers are increasingly seeking out artisan-style experiences, and brands that offer more than just caffeine—they want craft, story, and soul.
Our Roots: Sustainability and Craftsmanship
At Coffee World, we believe great coffee starts at the source. That’s why we work directly with sustainable coffee farms across Latin America, Africa, and Asia—farms that prioritise ethical practices, biodiversity, and regenerative agriculture. Every bean we buy supports communities and ecosystems, not just profits.
Once those beans arrive in the UK, the magic continues. We roast everything in-house, using precision techniques that bring out the unique character of each origin. Whether it’s a fruity Ethiopian single origin or a rich Central American blend, our roasters treat each batch like a work of art. If you are new and haven’t tried our new specialty coffees you are missing out, view our coffees here.

More Than Just Coffee
We’re not just selling drinks—we’re building relationships. From our Head of Coffee and Operations Team to our sourcing partners, our Baristas for serving excellent coffee in our Espresso Bar and building on our Cambridgeshire community, to our Sales team for working with various customers to allow them to serve specialty coffee. Every person in the Coffee World team shares a passion for excellence and sustainability.
As we continue to grow, we aim to expand this ecosystem by forging new partnerships, empowering communities both locally and globally, and deepening our commitment to ethical sourcing and environmental stewardship, so that every cup of coffee reflects not just quality, but a shared vision for a better, more connected world.
We host tasting events, support local charities, and invest in education to help our customers understand what makes specialty coffee so special. At Coffee World, we host two free cupping sessions a month, so if you are in the local area keep an eye on our socials and you can come and try some of our delicious coffee.

Final Sip
As the UK coffee scene continues to evolve, Coffee World remains committed to doing things the right way: ethically, expertly, and with heart. We’re proud to be part of a growing movement that values quality over quantity, and people over profit.
We would recommend you try some of our latest coffee specialties Dimtu Guji, Lake Attiltan, and Shikannon Hill. However, we have a wide range of coffees for you to try, you can buy them here.
So next time you take a sip of our coffee, know that it’s more than just a drink—it’s a story, a journey, and a promise.
